Chuy's is... ok. To my wife and I it's nothing special, but not terribly bad either. To us it's no better or worse than any other Mexican restaurant in the Richmond area. I read the hype before they opened and was super excited that they proudly use hatch chiles. We took a trip to New Mexico several years ago and occasionally enjoy recreating our New Mexican meals at home. We were excited to have a similar meal without all the work. I had the steak burrito and the wife had the chicka boom burrito, both with New Mexican chile sauces. Sauces were better than average but the meats and burritos were very dry and the beans/rice were the same as anywhere else.

I've missed real texmex!! The enchiladas were made with real chicken not shredded canned chicken. Everything was spiced perfectly and I love the salsa choices. I also had the sopapillas and they were amazing!

I took my family and friends to this place for lunch after going to the children's museum and like other reviewers said food was mediocre, inedible to say it nice! The place can not get any more tacky, It's an embarrassment to Mexican's if that is what they are trying to represent. Their fish tacos were so greasy I could not eat them my boyfriend ordered the chicka chicka boom boom! I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but it was horrible. Kids food was ok I guess. I would not go back Taco Bell is not far from there and their tacos are probably better.

Love this place best taco's ever. The food has so much flavor and is fresh. It's some true Tex Mex food if you know what that is. As for parking go when its not peak hours on the weekends and you should be good.

Stick to the mango margaritas. They are fabulous. The rest is just average chain mexican food. The service was stellar. No reason to wait 30 minutes for a table, and no reason to drive out to a congested area of town. My local dumpy little mexican joint is still going to be my go-to place.

I'm not sure what's so confusing about the difference between Mexican Food and Tex-mex food?????? They have some similarities, but different. Chuy's is TEX-Mex. so don't expect to walk in there and eat AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD!!! Not going to happen. CHUY'S is great!!! The TEX-MEX FOOD is awesome, service is great!!!!! We have been to several of there locations through out the US and looking forward to visiting them at there up coming locations. Chuy's is a fun place, great atmosphere and great TEX-MEX food. No I'm not an employee just a true fan of. Chuy's

I live in the building on the same property as Chuy's and was so excited to see Chuy's being built...we have one in Los Angeles, where I live the majority of my life. But, during my part time life here, I like to find fun places that remind me of home. I was so disappointed to find that THIS Chuy's is not the same as the LA Chuy's. Bummer! But, the food was delicious. The place was jammed and I live so close, so I did take out. I was not disappointed and you won't be either. I had the Chuychanga....yummy, but not lo cal. Enjoy.

I was reluctant to try Chuy's as there are so many Mexican restaurants around and none of them seem to offer anything new or exciting. We were so surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it! The service was awesome; very attentive. and the plates are plentiful. We will definitely be back!

Had dinner last night based on a friend's recommendation. The service was great from Amy, and the food was good. Only complaint was the hosts didn't seem to give anybody a wait time that was close to actual waiting times...which is frustrating. I would try it again.

Between the loud obnoxious music, staff who couldn't get anybody's orders straight and the mediocre food, I won't be going back. Beware restaurants that have tacky stuff all over the walls. . . distractions from what's on your plate.

Well I really, really wanted love Chuy's after all of the great reviews. However this visit tonight really left me wondering. Everything started off great. Our server Robyn was very attentive and kept our glasses filled. I ordered the combo fajitas, and my wife the Chuychanga??? My fajitas were the standard, although very little peppers and onions. However the cheese, guac, sour cream and pico were very nice. My wife chuychanga was tasty but halfway through she found a big chicken bone. She doesn't eat chicken with bones so this made her appetite disappear. The server was very apologetic and a manager came over to ask if she wanted anything else and she didn't and he offered a dessert. The tres leches cake was very tasty and free. However we got the bill and her entree was still on it. I didn't say anything and payed and tipped the server (again great server and the food wasn't her fault) Being in the service industry for 15 years now the first thing i would have done was comped the entree but nope now I don't know if we will go back not because the meal wasn't free it's just the principals and the manager didn't really seem to have a clue.

Went to Chuy's with adults and teens for lunch. Great service, prompt and courteous. Loved the decor..old cars, hubcaps..kind of like the old parts of Mexico I visited. Our table ordered a variety of items...all said the food was great. Loved watching them making the taco and burrito shells. Kids as well as young adults should definitely enjoy this lively restaurant.

8 of us met there for dinner to celebrate two birthdays. We had a great meal and a great server named Amanda. After dinner 4 of us went into the bar area. We told our server Dawn that we were celebrating two birthdays and she insisted we do a shot. The bar was out of one of the ingredients for the shots we ordered so Dawn said she would order us something great. After the shot we ordered drinks and she told us we were cut off. No one in our group was anywhere near being over served. We questioned her again and she said it was her decision. WOW - we will never go back there!!!!

We took another road trip from Baltimore to Richmond for lunch at Chuy's! It was worth every mile and every bit of the traffic nightmare on I-95! We had the delicious and unique Elvis Chicken with Green Chili sauce platter. Ah, but first we enjoyed the salsas! The creamy jalapeno dip was addictive! As always the regular tomato salsa melted in our mouths! The platter's portions were generous and unlike most "Mexican" restaurants this far from Texas, no two things tasted alike. The Spanish rice was fabulous, that coming from one who normally skips it. I have no idea the secret behind the refried beans but they were wonderful. The service was superb too. The meal was topped off with "melt-in-your-mouth" sopapillas with honey and creme. Fabulous! Now, Byron was our waiter and he left us wanting for nothing. The service was great! Thank you! Now, do us a favor and open a Chuy's closer to Baltimore!

2 stars for the food, an extra star because of the amazing waitress!!!!! I wish I had gotten her name. I was a little disappointed by the menu, I didn't see anything that caught my eye. I didn't even come across chorizo on the menu which was disappointing. That was a sign for me that it wasn't going to be authentic. Our waitress was able to recreate a dish that's very popular in other Mexican restaurants, arroz con pollo y camarones. It wasn't the best here because this isn't authentic, but it was doable. The drink I had was amazing although I can not recall the name.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE CELIAC/GLUTEN INTOLERANT _________________________________________________________ It's pretty obvious that whoever owns this location does not care to take food allergens seriously. A manager finally came out after the waitress struggled for about fifteen minutes to answer our questions. He said the only things that are considered safe are a salad without dressing or meat and then he said, "Well, the salsa is safe." When my husband said there was nothing to eat the salsa with he told him that the guacamole was safe too...okay? It seems the experience will different depending on the location. After finding their online menu was void of any nutritional information I did a google search and found some very inviting and positive reviews from around the country saying they were graciously accommodating and even made fresh chips from their soft corn tortillas in a clean pan with new oil. That is sadly not the case here. You can have a dry salad with guacamole and salsa! They will not even vouch for the safely of their corn chips or corn tortillas here, nor any of their meats. Additionally, we got the, "Well are you really allergic or are you just gluten intolerant?" treatment here. It's a common question, yes...and it's a question I LOATHE. In other words, people think you are faking it and they don't even know what gluten intolerance means. IT'S NOT YOUR BUSINESS WHY I DON'T EAT GLUTEN. I asked for a gluten free menu, that's all you need to know. That being said, if anyone with issues goes out to a restaurant they KNOW that cross-contamination will ALWAYS be a possibility. It's not a major feat to list common allergens on your menu, or at least on your website. All that we really want is to know if something contains actual gluten ingredients and if you have ANY dedicated equipment. Its really not that hard. It is the employer's responsibility to educate their staff about these things. I don't know why this isn't more standard than it is with so many people with serious food allergies/autoimmunity, and not just to gluten either. Why give them one star over something a lot of people will never have to deal with? First of all, half of our party got to eat. They thought the food was average or not what they expected. Secondly, my family eats out on a regular basis. This is the first time we have had to leave ANY restaurant hungry. Mexican is almost always largely Celiac friendly. Almost any dish can be adjusted with corn in place of flour. Why not here? Especially since this place touts FRESH, FRESH, FRESH and "HOMEMADE" all over the place. How can your meats be fresh if they all contain gluten? Why do rice and refried beans need gluten? I'll tell you why, because they are not fresh, they are processed. The whole basis of this restaurant is a farce.

As a frequent traveler to the southwest, I was anxious to try the southwest enchiladas with green chili rice. What a major disappointment. I never saw a single green chili although my entire plate was a minefield of canned jalapeño pepper slices. The tortilla was either cardboard or exceptionally stale, the rice was very spicy but had no flavor, and I saw not a shred of cheese. The chicken chunks looked like the precooked variety. One bright spot: the beans and the service were very good. I won't be back

I like their food and love the variety of salsas which makes the visit fun. The sat/sun special, macho burrito, can't be beat. A little bummed it's only offered on the weekend. Service has always been good.

This is a difficult review for me to write. My wife and I have been to Chuy's a number of times, and the food has been consistently good. The dishes are flavorful, the portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable. If I were to rate the food only, I would give it four stars. A dining experience is about more than the food, however; and the overall dining experience at Chuy's is mediocre at best. The problem is the service, which has never been any better than indifferent. Of late, it's gone from indifferent to outright bad. Tonight's debacle takes the cake. It started when our server came to take our drink order. My wife was undecided about her beverage choice, but asked for some water and put in our appetizer order. At that point, the server walked away without asking for my drink order. My wife called her back, and I ordered a beer. The server mumbled that she was just going to bring me a water and take my drink order when she came back. Next, the server brought our waters, together with chips and salsa. She did not, however, bring us any napkins. Before we got a chance to ask for them, she was gone. The bar brought our beverages, but our appetizer was nowhere in sight. Finally, after about 15 minutes, a food runner brought it out. We still had no napkins, and now we had an appetizer but no appetizer plates. We asked the food runner for napkins. Our server brought some shortly thereafter, then proceeded to deliver napkins to every other table in her section before we could ask her form some plates. By the time we got appetizer plates, the food runner brought our entrees. The server proceeded to put them on the table next to our appetizer, with no acknowledgment of the ridiculously poor timing of the meal. If my wife hadn't mentioned the poor timing to the server, she would have simply walked away as if nothing were wrong. She offered to take the entrees away and put in another order, but that wouldn't solve the issue. All that would have done is cause another extended wait after we finished our appetizer. She needed to take control on the front end. Ideally, our appetizer wouldn't have been so badly delayed. But once it was, it was incumbent upon the server to take control of the situation and ensure that we didn't receive our entrees right on top of our appetizer. Her failure to do this was bad enough, but her complete indifference to the situation, and willingness to simply drop the entrees on the table and leave without even acknowledging that there was an issue was completely unprofessional. My advice to anyone thinking of giving Chuy's a try is to order some food to go, pick it up, and take it home to eat it. That way, you can enjoy their tasty food without having to put up with the lousy service.

We had four different combos ordered at our table. All of the looked and by the silence during the meal, tasted great! The hot chips and the salsa were great! Worth going there just for them! I think next time I will stay away from the combos. Mine was the elvis special, it was tasty and filling. But I noticed the other main courses looked so much better! I don't understand the big chips dipped in the queso? I will be back or visit another location when I get the chance. For a box mexican restaurant, it was pretty good! The waiter we had was great, brought out all the sauces for us to try and was always on top of the drinks.

A favorite stop in Short Pump. Food is always fresh and fast, crispy thin chips, and oh, the creamy jalapeño dip! My personal favorite is the Thursday special - mini tacos with pork and pineapple. Texas Martini is a must, though the seasonal blood orange margarita was a little disappointing. Always good food, friendly staff.

Great service eclipsed by mediocre food. Uh, food well presented but essentially tasteless. I had the "steak burrito " which spent more time cooking in a steamer than a grill. Tomatillo salsa, uggh. Warm? I think not. I knew Chuy's from Barton Springs in Austin circa 1984. No comparison. Ths is an Appleby's version of that Chuy's. Never again. Go to La Milpa when in Richmond, Va. They're the real deal.

Tiny parking lot. Complimentary valet. Complimentary light chips and tasty salsa. I got the Baja tacos -- couldn't decide on fish or shrimp, so I got one of each. Both the fish and shrimp are lightly battered. I liked the fish better. Small side portions of Mexican rice and refried beans, but the entire meal was filling. The refried beans were different. Had a funny aftertaste. I decided I didn't hate them, but I didn't really like them either. Dinner under $10.

Though I was hesitant after seeing 3 stars for this place on Yelp, I decided to give this place a shot at the request of a buddy, who used to eat at one of Chuy's joints in Austin, TX! Tiny parking lot is an understatement. Parking is really an issue in that area! I ordered the Veggie enchilada. The food was bland. Better than Guadalajara, and inferior to Plaza Azteca. Didn't quite like the chips, and salsa either. The interiors are really interesting. It's a pretty laid back place, and everything is modeled on Elvis theme. Given the food quality, I would avoid this place.

Chuy is a family friendly restaurant with a fun decor where the service was friendly, and menu reasonably priced. The food was fresh and good. This will probably become us go-to "American-Mexican" restaurant.

Margarita = Decent Chips and salsa = GREAT! Whatever that creamy white dip is called...? Well, I'm renaming it crack dip. SO GOOD. The food was mediocre in my opinion except for one thing. The chile relleno. It was by far the best chile relleno I've ever eaten. Also, do not leave without getting a piece of tres leches cake. Seriously. You will be missing out if you don't get it. It's pretty big, so maybe take it home? that's what I did.... But it didn't last long once we got there.

I've been to Chuy's three times in the last two weeks. One word: YUM. For those saying it's not real mexican food, DUH it's a chain tex mex joint in Virginia! If you can deal with that, Chuy's is wonderful for those who love kickin', flavorful dishes. They have huge portions, a great waitstaff, and delicious food. I've had 3 different dishes so far: First visit: fish tacos, second visit: chicka chicka boom boom, third visit: chuychanga. Fish tacos were the least impressive of the three, I was disappointed how it was fried and that it was a huge piece of a fish rather than smaller chunks. The other two dishes were on point. The chicken is moist and the large variety of sauces are spicy yet not so hot you want to dunk your head in a bucket. I'm a big fan of the salsa! It's so simple, just tomatoes, cilantro, onions and lots of lime juice. They just started setting out their creamy jalapeno sauce with the housemade chips which are scrumptious. I also love that you can watch the tortillas being made from where you sit. I also want to point out their refried beans are really good I usually HATE refried beans and I will eat Chuy's, which is a huge compliment in my book. If you are still against it, they have another bean option that are simmered in a meat sauce which is really good. The margaritas are decent. My favorite so far is the frozen sangria and lime margarita together, but they certainly don't have as big of a kick as traditional mexican restaurants. The atmosphere is funky and fun to look at, also if there's a long wait (which there definitely will be at peak hours) there's a hollowed out car hood with free chips and salsa. So cool.

I am a huge fan of Mexican Food because of it wonderful Flavors & Spices in which they incorporate into their dishes. However, this was NOT the case yesterday. After living several years in New Mexico, Los Angeles where there is a Mexican Restaurant on every other block... and traveling to Mexico many times. I am spoiled for good Mexican Food.... Yesterday, when the Salsa came... it was just chopped tomatoes with some Cilantro & Onions chopped into it. Worst of all.. the small bowl was half full of water. So, I sent it back and asked for a better dish. I than asked for HOT Salsa, and she brought me a HOT Cheese dip... I sent it back as I wanted Spicy Hot Salsa which Mexicans Restaurants always have... So the server showed me the spicy dishes of Salsa which you have to pay extra for, so I asked for the 3 chilli one... When it came out... What I consider as HOT is not HOT in their book... They "cooked" the Salsa... I guess they do not understand Temperature Hot from Spicy Hot... So, I gave up on the Salsa... I ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom dish. It was a Burrito which was deep fried. This was new to me, however when I cut into it, it was full of just plain chicken with NO spices or seasoning to the dish. The chicken meat was dry and tasteless. SO, I asked the server for some HOT sauce... Now when you go into a Good Mexican Restaurant, they will bring you out some Mexican Hot Sauce.... Instead, she brought me a bottle of Tabasco. Of course it took over 5 min. for her to bring the Hot Sauce, because the server stopped and talked to others before bringing it to me... so in the meantime, my food was getting cold.... Finally, my service was barely OK.... She never came around once, to ask if the food was OK or can I get you anything else. I was having lunch with a friend, and we both decided upon leaving... Chuy's Mexican Food has a long ways to go before I feel it I can call this Authentic Mexican Food. I will say this... the chips were the best part of the Meal. Just remember to take your own Salsa. I do not think you will be seeing me coming back anytime soon. It took a lot for me to give Chuy's THE 3 STARS....

Pretty good. Not mind blowing. Would go again when in the West End or meeting with friends. A lot of tables and festive decor. Complementary chips are very thin and crispy and salsa is ok. I really liked the fried chicken special and it is on the spicy side as advertised. BF's sampler seemed like your average American Mexican (Tex-Mex?). Staff was friendly. Cool to watch the ladies make fresh tortillas. There is also outdoor seating.

Their second day open was my first day to eat here. I will need to do a return visit for a better opinion to form, but my first impression is that this will be a popular place. The lunch crowd was piling in, so I volunteered to be seated in the bar area since I was a party of one. My server--the bartender--especially recommended two entrees, and being a Tupelo-born Mississippi boy I had to go with the "Elvis" chicken. It was totally delicious! A pounded-out chicken breast fried in crushed potato chips, with a topping of cheese. "Love me tender!" Oh yeah! The accompanying rice and refrained beans were typical of such restaurants. Sweet tea was good. Excellent sauce for the chips from the self-serve station. My first Impression is a definite RECOMMEND for Chuy's.

I used to go to this restaurant often when I was in college in Houston. I'm so glad a branch has opened up here. So my review may not be the most objective, but the food is the way I remembered it and I found it a delight. It is really unique. It is a little different than traditional, super spicy Tex-Mex, with a definite New Mexican influence. A couple notes: the salsa is heavy on the cilantro, which I love, but not everyone does. A good alternative is the jalapeno cream sauce, which is creamy and mild, but with a nice zing. You can ask for a side, and have it with your chips.

Wow! They finally opened one in Richmond. I went with an old work friend to try out lunch. This is a chain that I hugely enjoy in the Houston market and was super excited that one was opening up in the Richmond Short-Pump area. I went at lunch. The parking lot was fully packed, so we went to the nearby parking deck. It was as I expected. When we went to the restaurant, I was surprised that they were able to seat us almost immediately. The waitress was fantastically nice. It was interesting to see a "Fan Chick" serving in Short Pump. Ok, that may have been a bit derogatory, but it wasn't intended. If you've been to Richmond, you know the type. Tats everywhere and peircings whereever there weren't enough tattoos. She was unbelievably good. She knew the menu, was fast, prompt, nice, and a great conversationalist. This place should have received a five stars on her service alone. I ordered the fish tacos. While we waited we had some nice warm chips with that smokey salsa I love. The timing of the delivery was a bit sketchy. I attribute it to the new store ills and hope that things get better the longer that they are around. The food had a heat lamp feel to it, but the taste was sublime. I hope that they are able to tie the order to the delivery and will rate them again later - once they dial it in. The fish tacos were excellent and the refried black beans were fantastic. However, as I said earlier, they had spent a bit too much time under a heat lamp or something and just wasn't as good as they have in Houston. Definitely a place to check out. They will get better over time and I'm looking forward to trying this place out a number of times. As long as the hordes stay away, I'll be coming back frequently.

This Chuy's doesn't really compare to the Mothership in Austin, but it's fine. I was sad when I realized how much of Chuy's food has been "chain-ized" (to invent a word). What I expected to be fresh was clearly not; not bad, mind you, just not the "fresh from abuela's stove" that you get in Austin. Nothing was wrong with my meal - I just wish it could have been like the ones I had in Texas.

Chuy's is what I need in a restaurant:. They have delicious drinks (blackberry or mango margaritas are amazing!!), seriously addicting chips- best paired with Creamy Jalapeno dip (yes, crack dip), and always hot food. Their entrees aren't God's gift to earth, but they are always fresh (beautiful peppers), colorful, filling, and delicious. The service has always been very attentive and fast- my glass and chip basket are never empty! Chuy's is a great place to relax, have fun, and stuff your belly until you're wonderfully uncomfortable. I feel like I'm on vacation when I'm there! As for the critics of the decor- it's a JOKE guys! They are making fun of kitschy Tex-Mex restaurants and I just so happen to enjoy the absurdity.

Had an opportunity to have lunch here recently with my team at work, and this place fit the bill; it was pretty close, had a wide variety of options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, and from previous experience, we knew that they could handle a larger group. The atmosphere here is pretty festive, a bit more of the stereotypical "mexican" decor with the large sombreros and brightly colored wall art, and helps liven up the atmosphere. When we got there, it was a decent lunch crowd, however we were able to be seated without hardly waiting, as they seemed to have more than enough staff to go around and keep the tables turning over. Almost as soon as we sat down, they set chips and Salsa in front of us. The chips and salsa were definitely the highlight of the meal, worth of 4/4.5 stars in their own right; the chips were paper thin, and hot just out of the fryer, and super crispy. The salsa was a bit acidic with large chunks of fresh ingredients and a healthy amount of cilantro. To add on to this, they had roving waiters with these big scoops of chips who would top off your basket if you got low without you even needing to ask. Their Entrees however were more standard Americanized Tex-mex fare. We got a variety of burritos, quesedillas, and enchiladas, and regardless of your filling or topping, they all came out looking pretty much the same, with little variety from one plate to the other. And for a Mexican restaurant, the food lacked a sort of heat or zip that you'd come to expect; I had a steak burrito, and it was more savory than zesty. I understand not wanting to over spice things for those of sensitive palates, but come on, you can at least have some spice that's more than waving a chili pepper over the plate in the kitchen. Overall though, the food was all hot and came out on time, and with the size of the place and the patronage I saw there, that's no small task. I'd love to check them out on a more laid back dinner evening to see if there's more individualism in their options.

Don't hate it don't love it.... The Pros: -Chips and Salsa are pretty great. You can tell yourself all day long that you're only going to have a handful of chips but that's bullsh*...you're going to eat a whole basket by yourself. -HH offers a free nacho bar if you drink there...so that's cool -Food flavor is decent (I've gotten the Fajitas...good seasoning and tenderness on the beef) Cons: -Their Guac is no bueno. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I love me some good guacamole -They are texmex so I know there are some differences....but really....no white cheese dip?! - They only have Tabasco sauce...to all of my spicy food friends out there you know what a bummer that can be when you order mexican(ish) type food. I want my Cholula or Tapatio dam*it! I'll go back again...probably next week for HH with my coworkers because it's a pretty cool place to go with a group of people. All joking aside I liked the staff....service was very good. I'll just have to bring my own hot sauce next time.

If you are looking for a good margarita in Short Pump, this is the location for you. Nestled in the heart of Short Pump, Chuy's is easliy located right off W Broad Street. With Valet Parking, you can be sure you don't have to hunt for parking in this metropolis of shops and restaurants. Chuy's is known for a great concoction of margaritas. I was in here for dinner one night - sat at the bar and ordered the fish tacos. We had salsa (a bit on the spicy side for me - hello Jalapeno!) and chips - typical for mexican food- but I was over the moon for my mango margarita- a flavor i have not yet had- and it was delicious. The fish tacos were really good but the fried fish made this "healthy' dish a bit unhealthy for my tastes. It was a bit filling- for the three tacos, and overall pretty good. The staff, however, was super cool and I enjoyed sitting at the bar talking to the bartenders. They explained the story of the resturant and the food...and its origins from TX- as I was not aware this was a chain restaurant until i walked in. This place is best for groups- not a quiet spot- so if you are looking to go on a date, you may want to rethink your destination. They do have a patio- so try that out for size when you go!

Still not exactly sure what "Tex-mex" is but I sure do love me some good quality Mexican food (hopefully no one lashes at me for saying that..) They have "valet" parking at this location in SP which I think is silly b/c there's a parking deck literally 20 feet away.. haha. The inside decor reminds me of a chuck e cheese for some odd reason. Everything is really bright and multicolored from red to yellow to orange and green. I came around 1PM for lunch and this place was HOPPING! Not exactly sure how big this place is as we sat in only one part of their restaurant. This place seems very family friendly and there were plenty of kids and their parents here. Me and my friend didn't really know what to order from the menu and our waitress pointed out to us that anything in green is a customer favorite. I got the Baja Tacos with fried shrimp which came with re-fried beans and rice and two soft tacos with fried shrimp. My baja tacos were AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. Fried shrimp, fried to perfection, very nicely seasoned and the sauce was outrageously good. The beans and rice though were just kinda meh and didn't really stand out to me. I am definitely open up to anything more "authentic" for a tex mex experience. Service was pretty good and checked up on us regularly. The prices were also about average ranging anywhere from 5 to 10 bucks for a majority of their lunch menu.

If you're going to go to Chuy's, be prepared to wait. We went on a Monday night at 6:15 and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. There is a good-sized bar where you can grab a beer while you wait. There is also the nacho bar, which is pretty awesome. It's a little awkward to eat chips and salsa, however, if you aren't fortunate enough to find a place to sit down while you wait. On to the food...it's pretty wonderful. I had the vegetarian combo...one chile relleno stuffed with cheese (awesome) and one enchilada stuffed with corn/zucchini/beans. The food was definitely worth the wait.Their enchilada sauce is a deep red color and it is packed with flavor. Even though the place was crazy busy, our server took great care of us and once we sat down and placed our order, our food arrived quickly. I am going to sound like the Yelp grandmother here, but the music is really loud. We were too busy eating to carry on a conversation, but if you're coming here and expect to hold a meaninful, quiet conversation, you will be sorely disappointed.

Meh. Exactly. Go for the chips, dips, and beer. I think I walked into this place with high expectations. I had been to their Happy Hour with a friend and was totally into the nacho car and cheap drinks. Really. I think it was $3 domestics and $4 margaritas. Something close to that. Taco/Nacho toppings and endless chips. I felt carbed up by the end of the happy hour. My girlfriend really wanted to go so we went on a Saturday evening after 8. I was bragging that I had heard great things about this place, as was she. We got a beer and mojito with chips and salsa to start. I do like the fresh chips and got a side of the creamy jalepeno sauce. I really liked the sauce. She ordered enchiladas and I tried the fish tacos. Just nothing exciting about them. She didn't realize the standard sauce that came on her enchiladas would be so spicy. I think it was only rated at 2 Chiles? It made them hard to eat for her. My favorite part of my tacos were the (I HOPE) made from scratch tortillas. It had that home made taste but then again it's a chain. Also, more sauce. I didn't see much of my waiter. I mean, I did, just at other tables. It didn't seem like a crazy night in the dining rooms. Overall: Good chips and various dips Happy Hour=yes. Margaritas=Come out of an icee machine. Sure, consistency/speed. Food: I really wanted to like it. I think there was more thought into the names of the food thea the actual food. More sloppy Americanized Mexican food. Maybe I expected more coming from an actual Tex-Mex background but... Come on Henrico!! So much disappoint.

Had explosive diarrhea before the entrees arrived. Valet service was excellent, chips were decent, appetizer was below average, entrees were horrible. No flavor, no passion!

We came here once a few weeks ago and everything was fantastic, staff was friendly and welcoming, food was hot, spicy and we discovered they had sherbet push-up pops.....sherbet push-up pops! Our daughter loved it, sugar...of course she loved it, but my wife and i also purchased one as well. The second time we ate there last week was good but not as great as the first, staff was very sweet and attentive but definitely green. The food had great heat but lacked flavor for some reason. As an operator I know we can't hit it on all cylinders everyday so I completely understand, we will definitely keep coming back!

I wouldn't call it authentic Mexican food (I haven't found any authentic Mexican food in Richmond) Food and service are excellent. Very Friendly staff, seating inside and out. Never have a problem getting seated fairly quick even on a busy Saturday. If your looking for Mexican food and anywhere near short pump hands down the best place to go.

One of our favorite places in Richmond. Make sure you ask for the creamy jalepeno if your server doesn't bring it out automatically. And their Mango Margaritas are delicious! I also recommended the Taco Salad. We have only had 1 bad server in all of the times we've been there; most are very good and attentive. This isn't Mexican good like Casa Grande or Plaza Azteca. It's Tex-Mex. It's a little bit spicier. But it's fresher. We go here at least once every month.

I had moved to this area and I was looking for a good Mexican restaurant. I went to few and I was very dissapointed. Chuys was going to be my last Mexican restaurant I try. Surprisingly, the food was descent and the service was excellent. Very friendly stuff and very helpful. BUT.. Don't ever have a margarita or any alcoholic drinks there cause they I think forgot to put the alcohol part. Had many margaritas and I haven't been able to taste any tequila!!! It's cheap, real cheap and I finally figured it out. NO alcohol. So dissappointed.

I have never been so disgusted at a restaurant as I was at chuys. We sat down and they brought out Chips n salsa and the salsa looked so disgusting that I can't even describe it. It was a weird pale tomatoe color with weird bubbly stuff in it and It immediately made me lose my appetite. My bf tried it and said it tasted of wet gym sox and old onion. We are not picky eaters especially when it comes to mex restaurants but we walked out and couldn't bring ourselves to try an entree at a place that would serve that sloppy weird salsa.

Have only been once but very excited to try it given the hype. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. Best part of the meal (as at most mexican restaurants) was the chips and salsa. Light, crispy and salty, and homemade chips. Tried the Baja tacos - one fish, one shrimp...underwhelmed. The spicy rice and spicy pintos are definitely spice so watch out. A fun restaurant to hang with friends...

Love love love this restaurant! We drove especially from Maryland to visit this place since it's our favorite restaurant. We are from Houston and got introduced to it while in Texas. Try the creamy jalapeño sauce with the chips. Sometimes they don't bring it out so you have to ask for it. Also try the chicka chicka boom boom, which comes with boom boom sauce. They staff was nice and we got seated quickly. The food also came out timely and the margarita was amazing. Hands down the best Ted Mex place to visit :)

As someone who used to partonize the original Chuys in Austin, TX in the 80s, this one has a great atmosphere but the food is nowhere as good as I remembered .

I know this may be a chain, but my husband and I are obsessed with Chuy's. We are new to Richmond, and LOVE our Tex-Mex, so when we came to visit the area before moving here, we had dinner there. I know that there are a million amazing places that we still need to go to in Richmond, but with Chuy's being 5 minutes away, we are constantly going back because we love it. Is the decor silly? Maybe - but who cares? The food is amazing and the service is great. The T-Shirts the wait staff wear are hysterical too. As everyone else says, the chips and salsa are super fresh and incredible. The jalapeño cream salsa concoction is also amazing- not to mention all you can eat. They are super addictive so try to remember that you still need to eat dinner. We got the sampler platter the first time we went there so that we could get a taste of a little bit of everything and now we ALWAYS have to get it, even though we know we will be taking leftovers home. The Nachos, Queso Dip, and Quesadillas are awesome - the only thing I don't care for are the chicken flautas -so hubs always gets to eat those :) The steak fajitas are so, SO good - the meat can be cut with a fork, and the tortillas - OH MY - fresh and made right on the spot. I want to try new things when I go there, I really do... but I just can't pass up the fajitas and always order them. We usually get the fajitas for two which is awesome but last time we went, my husband got the steak burrito and my father in law got the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, both of which are signature dishes. Both cleaned off their plates. There is usually a wait, but a great Mexican beer selection, margaritas, and free chips and salsa usually makes it go pretty fast! Needless to say, we're HUGE FANS :)

Overwrought chain restaurant kitsch, ground-beef tacos, sour cream, and too much sauce. This place looks like the Cartoon Network took a sh*t in it. Colors, patterns, lights, and wacky tchotchkes all over the f*****g place. It's just as Disneyfied as those horrible apartments and town homes in the fake plastic village behind it. This is Tex and not Mex. Nothing beats SoCal Mexican food in America, period. The margaritas are OK. They're not too sweet and have at least some alcohol. Then there is the demeaning situation involving the mestizo women caged in a fishbowl prison sentenced to nonstop tortilla making in the middle of the restaurant. I swear I saw them sipping from those water bottles you hang in your hamster's cage. No dignity for them nor the casual first-world observer stuffing their head with thousands of sodium laden calories. Nevertheless, this place will do fine in chain-restaurant obsessed Richmond; a land blessed with plenty of plump people who grew up on ground-beef tacos stuffed into pre-molded hard shells. I'll take a carne asada burto from a tiny grimy stand off the 5 freeway any day over the gimmicky food concoctions they serve up in this phony carnival house.

Ate at Chuy's yesterday with my wife. We really enjoyed ourselves, but I must admit we are from Oklahoma and Texas and have been missing good Tex-Mex being in the Richmond area. The salsa was almost exactly what we are looking for with good chunks of freshly cut vegetables, possibly a little spicy for regular table salsa. No complaints about the chips either, nicely thin and crispy with a bit of salt. She had chicken enchiladas, and I had the chicken combo from the light section of the menu. The most telling thing I can say is that my wife that rarely eats too much cleared two enchiladas and a double helping of spanish rice. Finished off the meal with sopapillas that were amazing. We will definitely be returning, and bringing friends for a taste of home.

Pros: good chips & fresh salsa, sauces on entrees are flavorful, and if you like spice, you can find it here Cons: busy, distracting atmosphere (our table was parallel to the kitchen service line, so in fairness, it was probably the worst seat in the house), lackluster service, food (other than the sauces) is just okay Sorry to say, but we were disappointed and will not go back.

Wish this place had a few more authentic offerings... But as Tex mex goes it doesn't disappoint. The homemade tortillas keep me coming back. The swirled frozen margaritas at happy hour are addictive.

So tried this place for the first time... Reluctant to try as I usually don't like chain restaurants...but boy am I glad I did! For the service AND the food. First thing's first, I do NOT recommend the Chuy's special! It was so bad that I took one bite and the Manager saw my face and came over to ask if I liked the meal. I am not a picky eater and felt bad for saying no...but he insisted that He get me something else. I was so impressed by his proactive customer service! For my replacement meal I got the Shrimp Chile Rellanos with a side of Creamy Jalapeño Sauce. Words cannot describe how good this dish was! The Free Nachos, Dip and Meal were all excellent. I highly recommend this place not only for the quality and taste of the food, but for the exceptional customer service.

This southwest tex-mex restaurant is crazy busy right now being so new in town. Expect long waiting times and hard to find parking without valet. Food is pretty good. I've had their tortilla soup which can be an entire meal with the large amount of chicken in it. Make sure it's HOT when you get it at the table, because there was a tremendous taste difference from the barely Luke warm version i got first. The soup was really good! I've also had their fajitas which were good as well... Not GREAT, but good for this type of restaurant. My only complaint is the tortillas are very heavy, so you get a lot of doughy taste instead of the ingredients. Save room...The SOPAPILLAS are a MUST have!!!!

After looking at photos on here and reading reviews, I was a little skeptical about going to Chuy's. These reviews and photos really do make the place look scary for my stomach; however, none of what is on here do Chuy's justice. If you are looking for Plaza Azteca, do not go to Chuy's. They are not the same, so just go to Plaza. Anyways, arrived at 5:30 PM on a Saturday night and was immediately seated. The chips and salsa were brought to the table. The chips were thin, crispy, and lightly salted. I actually prefer these chips to the thicker kind that many other Mexican restaurants place on the table. The salsa was okay. It was light pink and resembled pico more so than salsa, and I am thinking the pinkness of the salsa made it a little bitter since the tomatoes were probably not as ripe as they could have been. However, still enjoyable. I ordered a grilled chicken taco salad with jalapeño ranch dressing. Best taco salad I've ever had. No nutrition-less shredded iceberg lettuce, but instead the salad had greens with purple cabbage. It also had tomatoes and cheese on it as well as diced grilled chicken. I poured their jalapeño ranch dressing over it and it was delicious. I cannot even begin to describe how good the dressing is. It resembles ranch with a little kick. I also ordered a side of refried beans, which was a huge side, enough beans to kill someone. I ate what I could of them with my salad. They were just okay, typical refried beans. My boyfriend says their charro beans are much better. My only complaint with this restaurant is that I felt I was rushed. We got there, were served, and ate within 30 minutes. We were also still eating and the waiter asked to take our plates away after he saw me still eating my taco salad shell with my side of beans. I would've preferred the pace to be a lot slower than it was but the food was still good and fresh.

Coming from the west coast ---- I had high hopes for this place... and would have probably painted this review with a VERY wide brush (AKA Leeway) aside from the fact that this place truly sucked. From pulling into the small parking lot (which DOES offer 'free' valet parking) trying to ignore the valet guys bwecause there are front row (non valet) spaces open...to walking in on a Monday night at 7pm and being told it's a 30 minute wait for a party of 2 because they didnt have enough servers on the floor to cover a packed house.... We elected to go to the "bar area" which serves an "Appetizer Only" menu. Fine. Cool. Whatever. I had shit to do at Whole Foods so lets just get this show on the road people. The bar stools were all completely full... packed house at the bar --- but we were 1 of 2 cocktail tables (out of 16) that had people sitting at them. STILL it took 10 minutes for someone to come over & say "I'm not your server but I can get your drinks started". after a long wait, some guy brings our drinkis.... basically drops them off & splits. I had to call him back in a LOUD outdoor voice to order appetizers. He wrote the 2 things we ordered down and said "these will only take 5 - 7 minutes" before walking away and seeimingly out of our lives forever. 35 minutes later our apps are delivered --- in the meantime there are 2 different people sitting at the actual bar that are served entree meals (rice/beans the whole shebang) so I'm left wondering WTF? why didnt I see a whole menu and WTF -=----- WTF????? And on top of it --- our waiter missed out on a couple more drinks he could have billed us for if only he came by to take an order.... especially once I got offended..... anyway - only gave it 2stars versus one because the waitress was OK & I like free chips/salsa bar for everyoneplus I like the people there. But come on guys ---- even if location is a "gimme" - customer support is NOT.

I live around the corner from Chuy's and noticed that it was open on my way home. I grabbed my roommate and set out for dinner. We had tried several mexican restaurants around the area and weren't impressed. Our expectations were that they were going to be on par with the others. We get there and was told that a table for 2 was going to be a 25 minute wait. It was slightly busy, but I knew it wasn't going to be that long (it's better to overshoot the wait time than to be short). When they gave me my pager, they said we could help ourselves to the nacho bar. What? I can eat while I wait? Awesome. We grab a basket, grab some chips and dive into some of the best salsa I've ever had at any mexican restaurant. 2 minutes of waiting and my pager goes off. Wow. We get seated and look at the menu. We were really surprised at how cheap the dinner plates were. I ordered the Elvis Fried chicken. We finish our basket of chips, and I get another basket, and then our food arrived. They must have been on point that night. The portions were pretty big! $10 for fried chicken, and some bangin rice and beans? I couldn't finish it, and I'm a big boy. Would recommend trying this place out!

This place is AWESOME! I can't wait to go back. I went for lunch on Memorial Day a few weeks ago, and I left very impressed. The waitress brought out complimentary chips with salsa and creamy jalapeno dip almost immediately, and they were awesome. The jalapeno dip is spectacular, and the chips are thin and crispy. The salsa was not my favorite, as it tasted heavily of cilantro, and I strongly dislike cilantro, but I think most people that like cilantro would love the salsa. I ordered the combo #2 - the elvis presley memorial combo. It came with a beef enchilada, cheese enchilada, chicken enchilada, ground sirloin taco and tostada chips with queso. And rice and beans. The amount of food I got for $9.99 was ASTOUNDING. It took me 3 meals to eat it all. The beef enchilada was my fave, while the cheese one was only okay. The "tostada chips" was really only two large tortilla chips, and it came on a separate plate with the taco, but it was really really good. I think the taco was actually my favorite item out of them all. My dining partner ordered the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken, which is breaded with Lay's potato chips! He couldn't stop raving about it, and the bite that I snuck from his plate was delicious. It was surprisingly juicy, and the breading was very fun. When we were paying and asking for boxes for leftovers (even my dining partner had to get a to-go box, and trust me, he can eat an ABSURD amount of food and almost never gets to-go boxes), and the waitress asked if I wanted a box for the chips and dip. I assumed she meant for the chips that were uneaten, so I said sure! But she brought out a whole BAG of fresh chips, AND she had included to-go containers of both the salsa and jalapeno dip in them. RIDICULOUS. Great service (my water cup never went empty), great food, GREAT prices. I will definitely be back.

Thank goodness that Chuy's came to Virginia. They freed me from the monolithic pile of crap that Richmond considers "Mexican food." As a resident misplaced Texan, this place will surely become my altar for the Tex-mex food that I miss. I've only been to this location once, but I've been several times to the one in San Antonio and Austin (the original). I usually loathe chain restaurants, but this place is different because the food is good and reminiscent of my home state. I'm going to give them a break on the lack of a warm, Texas welcome due to it being so new. The food was spot on. I ordered a combination plate so that I could try a little bit of everything. I had enchiladas, flautas, a taco, guacamole, chile con queso, beans, rice, and tres leches cake. Everything was good, but if you come here, don't order an effing taco plate, go to a proper taqueria for that business. I witnessed the fajitas and was SO happy to see that they were proper fajitas instead of that weird sh-t they serve at other local "Mexican" food places. I still need to try their tortillas, which is the deciding factor for me, but based on everything else, it looks promising. Please, come here, enjoy the food and a restaurant that really reminds me to "keep Austin weird." I want this place to stay for that I can get my "fix" of food here in Richmond. I've made my boyfriend promise to take me here once a month already. Go try it already!

Mediocre food. Someone compared the decor it to a Applebee's- true. Service was okay...irritating because the waitress input my order incorrectly which kept us waiting for a while. She gave us a fry bread for dessert. The white jalapeño sauce tasted like Hidden Valley Ranch from the dry mix- and it was not spicy. It tasted okay with the freshly fried chips. Shrimp in the Baja taco was cooked perfectly but the same jalapeño white sauce slathered on the bottom was a bit too much. Steak and rice were good.

Meh. The margarita was OK. Expensive for being mostly ice. The chips and salsa you dig yourself out of the back of a car trunk was uninspiring with super thin chips that break off when you dip and salsa that is average however anything but authentic. The guacamole looked good but was super salty. The Elvis Plate with different enchiladas was OK. Rice and beans from a can. Typically I do not go to chains when traveling on the road so I should not have expected much. The service however I must say was very, very friendly and attentive. No complaints there. In fact it was very much above average. I would not make a point to go here again.

What an awful experience. Had heard good things about the restaurant but after tonight's experience, will not go back. Food took longer than 30 minutes to receive after ordering and then it was cold. Manager offered desert and took one meal off the bill. Have had a lot better food other places with a lot less effort. Too many options in Richmond to have to experience this type of meal there again.

Ate here with my family on June 21, 2013. I'm afraid our first visit will also be our last. The good: service was friendly and relatively quick in spite of being a busy Friday night. Food was delivered promptly, and they provided crayons and coloring pages for my three-year-old (which is a BIG hit). Taste was standard tex-mex, nothing really special of note. I got a beef burrito, wife got the taco salad, daughter got the kids' quesadilla. I was disappointed that they didn't have horchata (which I love) or flan. The bad: This place doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a 50's diner? The hubcaps hanging from the ceiling and retro decor would make me think so. But wait, they're playing pop music from the 80s, 90s and today. So maybe it's a more modern dining experience? Hold it--now they're serving me chips and salsa (which was ok, I guess) and bringing me Mexican food? I just don't get it. This restaurant has identity issues. The really ugly: our whole family experienced varying levels of indigestion and food sickness later that night after our meal at Chuy's. Not a pleasant way to start the weekend, to say the least. It may have been a fluke, but after experiencing the schizophrenic ambiance, we're going to seek a salsa source elsewhere.

Came to Chuy's on their fourth day open and was surprised at the large crowds already coming in. I was seated pretty quickly for the number of people waiting and it took a little time for my waitress to come and ask for my drink. I got a typical strawberry frozen margarita since it was Happy Hour with $4.75 margaritas. My friend had asked which margaritas were included in the Happy Hour price and told that the perfect margarita was included, which it ended up not being. After that, our waitress was not very friendly and pushed our checks before we finished our drinks. Service aside, we got the appetizer sample of tacquitos, quesadillas, chips and queso, which were pretty good but seems like typical Mexican fare. Based on the service alone, I don't think I'll make a special effort to go out there especially with so many Mexican options in Richmond.

First time here and I got to say the staff is very friendly! Our server was Lindsey and she knew the menu in great detail. I had the chicka-chicka Boom Boom enchilada. It was outstanding. chicken was very moist. green chili rice had a slight spice to it, but nothing over whelming, and the boom boom sauce that tops it was very good. The charro beans were excellent. Nice spice to them. And to top of the evening our server brought out a to go box with what I ordered and the date written on the top. THANKS LINDSEY.!!

Twice I have eaten and twice I have been very food. The first time was about 6 months ago on 301 near Waldorf, Maryland. The service was atrocious and the food was worse. Extremely salty, poorly constructed, it's what I would expect out of a can after the cook forgot to put the cap on the salt shaker. Tonight, my wife talked me into trying the Short Pump location. The service was quite good and our waitress was very friendly. The food however, truly disappointing. I love Mexican fidd, lived near Mexico City for a while and can say this food doesn't qualify as Mexican, let alone Tex-Mex. on top of all of that, my stomach has been in terrible shape for the last several hours. Never again!

Update: Went to Chuy's for the second time; this time, toting my husband along. He is not the most adventurous eater and considers anything deviant from macaroni-and-cheese and PBJ's to be exotic. He does, however, favor our old standby Mexican restaurant, and will occasionally indulge me and try something new. I'm about 92.5% sure that the reason he agreed to eating dinner in Short Pump was that I was paying. To say that he thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Chuy's would be a total understatement. He tried very unsuccessfully to hide the fact that he was impressed. He had the steak fajitas while I rehashed my glorious experience with the baja shrimp tacos. There was an endless supply of creamy jalapeno sauce, to my delight. Husband couldn't stop raving about how tender and melt-y the steak was, even ignoring the tortillas and sides at one point in favor of the meat and veggies. The shrimp tacos were again, awesome, although I promised myself that next time I would try something else on the menu. Our server, Tony, was the best. He made sure to check on us constantly, kept the drinks and sauce flowin' and at the end of the night, we tipped him almost twice more than the standard 20%. And yes, I did ask for more creamy jalapeno sauce to take home with my leftovers! Sorrynotsorry. The only con is that ridiculous wait time (one hour and some change), but hey, totally worth it.

Best Tex-Mex in all of Virginia. Be sure you get the creamy jalapeno sauce. Mmm. I first became familiar with Chuy's from numerous trips to Austin, back when that was the only place you could find this restaurant. Something gets lost in the translation -- maybe it's not surprising that a suburban Richmond, Va., restaurant doesn't have the same funky vibe as the Austin originals. But, since going to Austin for lunch isn't practical, Chuy's is a fine alternative.

The food is just okay. I got the steak burrito and it left me wanting more.... from somewhere else. The margaritas are just okay, too. The customer service is good and I feel like the food may get better once they get into a routine as I went there when they first opened. My biggest qualm is the fact they have this huge vat of tortillas and meat/cheese sauce for all to share in front of the restaurant. I will not eat community food. GROSS!

Leaving Chuy's, I neither felt that I had just experienced authentic Tex-Mex or that I had gotten a great deal, so probably won't be back. Definitely worth a try though, if you are crazy about that kind of food. Portions were ridiculous and service was good. Kind of confusing decoration in the restaurant...the Happy Days 50's look seemed a bit out of place.

Richmond is usually not the "guinea pig" area for new restaurant chains in Virginia. That honor more than likely goes to Northern Virginia or VA Beach. But here is Chuy's, a Texas based mexican food chain that is as much about decor as it is about food. Heck, they even have an Elvis shrine in their restaurants and menu items dedicated to the King. Their first commonwealth outpost landed right here in Short Pump. Now, I know, between Plaza Azteca, Mexico, Casa Grande, El Paso, etc. etc. how do you keep all of these places straight? Well let me see if I can help you with that. Chuy's is one of a kind in terms of whimsy, atmosphere and ultimately, food. Richmond has a legitimate restaurant row at the Short Pump Crossing/Station area (funny, no trains here but lots of allusions to them) and Chuy's will certainly become an anchor for YUSPYs (Young Urban or Suburban Professional Yelpers) to bring their Happy Hour crowds of coworkers. So this place will hum with that vibe. But there is also the family vibe and the foodie vibe and they all have a place here too. If I can describe Chuy's in one word, it's colorful. The welcome area, dining rooms, bar area, all have themes. The bar welcomes pictures of local dogs to put on their wall (You'll get a free appetizer if you contribute one in a nice frame). Another room has car hubcaps replacing a ceiling fresco. You get the idea. And did I mention the Elvis shrine? So much about the decor, what about the food? Well here is where I get conflicted about the difference between Tex-Mex and Mexican. If Chuy's wants to distinguish itself from the restaurants listed above, then it needs to do a bit more with what it is good at. The options of expertly fried and delicious Chile Rellenos, Blue Corn Tortillas for Veggie Enchiladas, and other unique and tasty specialties makes it stand above the usual fare found at it's Mexican counterparts, but in my opinion, it falls just short of true distinction because of the similarity in their side items. I know people will disagree with me, but refried beans serve one purpose on a platter of food and that is to take up as much space as possible. Texture and taste-wise, I don't think it truly adds anything to a meal except a higher likelihood of taking all of the other food home in a container. What Chuy's should do is offer a bit more choice in their side items so we are not faced with the typical beans and rice that, in my opinion, slightly diminish the creativity (and appearance, I mean what picture of a platter featuring refried beans looks attractive?) of otherwise above-average food. How about a small salad or fresh steamed or grilled fajita vegetables? Or even a side of sauce option to replace the beans? The sauce list reads like a who's who of tex-mex flavor, why not promote it better? I'd love more boom-boom sauce for my chips too! Other than that, I have no major complaints. The serving staff is always friendly and energetic (can only imagine the amount of Red Bull that is consumed per capita there) and the prices are fairly reasonable for what you get. So welcome Chuy's, I and many other food enthusiasts and Richmond apologists have more to be excited about and less to be defensive about when out-of-towners come to call. More and more, I am glad to see that companies are willing to take a chance on the confederate capital, and by the looks of things, it may be the beginning of a beautiful food friendship.

I don't think so. . .ugh! Soggy enchiladas. The famous jalapeño sauce...it is like ranch dressing. Practically no fresh seafood options. Not authentic. Not even good Tex- Mex.

First off, I'm always excited when anything from Texas moves beyond its borders. And if there's anything from Texas that's really needed here in Richmond, it's Tex-Mex. Chuy's is not my favorite Tex-Mex place when I'm visiting Texas, but I'll take it. I would NOT really count this as real Mexican food, the recipes and their versions of Mexican dishes can be way off. This is main stream Tex-Mex. If you're not very familiar with what that means, you may be disappointed. But Tex-Mex is awesome! The atmosphere is crowded (They appear to be doing really well already, which is great), family oriented, and a bit noisy, but this is the same in original Chuy's in Austin. I went during happy hour, which includes a free chili/queso bar. The food was the delicious goodness I remember, in giant portions. And their original Margarita was nice and strong. The only issue I had was that I got one of their green chile sauces that was labeled as being their hottest, and it was hardly spicy at all. I'm not sure if they changed the recipe, or it's not spicy in Texas either. Shame on them, though, Tex-Mex should make you sweat. Don't expect anything fancy at Chuy's. It's seriously delicious, laid-back dining. Between this and Blue Bell Ice Cream showing up in Kroger recently, I've been a very happy Texan!

The food at Chuy's is pretty consistently good. I love their "boom boom" sauce but it is super spicy so watch out. I also love their bar area with free nacho bar during happy hour. My only issue with this place is the parking nightmare that is west broad village and the fact that this place is absolutely craaaawling with people and screaming children 90% of the time. I am hoping once the initial buzz starts calming down this place will be a little more chill.

After spending a summer in Ft. Worth, TX in 2011 I fell in love with Chuy's. Then I headed back to the East Coast and thought I'd never find love with Tex Mex again. Driving through Short Pump one day I saw construction for a new building and a few weeks later I saw "Chuy's" on the banner. My fiance nearly wrecked the car when I let out a scream of joy knowing that I'd soon have this scrumptious delicacy back in my life. We waited about two weeks after it opened to go and it was absolutely swamped. That evening we devoured so much chips and salsa due to waiting forever to get a table that I honestly am not sure what I ordered. Veggie enchiladas perhaps? I know I had the Deluxe Tomatillo sauce on my dish and it was heavenly. A few weeks later I returned with some girlfriends and it was just as good. I was seated immediately and since I was waiting for my friends to get there, the waitress even brought me some Creamy Jalapeno sauce so I didn't feel so lonely. This stuff is seriously heaven in a bowl. I could probably make a meal out of just their salsa and the Jalapeno dip. Their salsa is one of my favorites and I love how the chips are so thin and always piping hot, fresh from the fryer. I was sad to learn I could not get the fish tacos with grilled fish so just went ahead and got them fried. One downside to a chain that probably just has frozen fried fish fillets. I didn't care for the fish still being in one large fillet, it would have been much better broken up into chunks. It was still delicious and I added some of the leftover Jalapeno sauce to it. Instead of beans and rice the server graciously let me sub for a side of grilled veggies which were great, but ridiculously spicy. It was another great experience and I can't wait to go back!

Sorry, I don't get it. I love good Mexican food and this is nowhere close. I come from Tucson so I know what good Mexican food is. Even if I didn't know what good Mexican food is I would NEVER classify Chuy's food as good. Certainly not "great" The food tastes canned and is EXTREMELY salty. In a word, Chuy's sucks.

The "Traditional Enchiladas" are actually covered in a verde sauce. No Bueno. The burrito was much better. 4.5 /5 according to mi hijo.

If I had heard how multiple employees pronounce a Spanish double-L before walking in here, I'd have known to turn around and go anywhere else. No, it's not a chile RELL ehno, nor is it toma TILL o sauce. But let's go back to the beginning. I sat at the bar, as I am wont to do when eating alone. Although I did not ask for recommendations, the bartender was quick to tell me that he couldn't recommend anything, as everything was good. Then just shut up, dude. I ordered a combination platter with a chile relleno (reh YEN o) and an chicken enchilada, with "green chile sauce". What I received was a platter with a beef enchilada and the sauce had nothing green about it. ("Oh, it's a roux-based sauce, sir" I was told. Whatever, I ate my way across New Mexico on Route 66 and when I ordered green sauce it was, amazingly enough, green). While this food mistake was being taken care of (or so I thought... foreshadowing!), my beer glass sat empty, even though I was seated right next to the service bar. It was impossible that either of the bartenders couldn't see that, and leaving a customer dry when you've already made one mistake takes things to a whole 'nother level of bad. When the new plate of food was delivered, they'd gone ahead and replaced ONLY the enchilada. In the meantime, I'd left the other food there, assuming that the whole thing was being replaced, so of course that was cold. Rather than wait another 10 minutes for the food I'd originally ordered, I asked for a fresh relleno and started in on the enchilada. And STILL my beer sat empty. I had to wave my hands around to get somebody's attention. A manager came to see me seconds before the relleno was delivered, asking if I'd finally gotten all I needed. When that plate was set down by me, he said "Perfect!". I told him that no, this was far from perfect, but mostly he seemd to want to consider everything a success. In the end, my whole tab got comped, although I looked at the ticket sitting in front of me before that happened, and it actually had a charge listed for the re-ordered enchilada (or maybe it was the relleno). I get that it had to be entered into the POS system so that the kitchen would make it, but it NEVER should have appeared on my tab. Adios, Chuy's.

I haven't been to a Chuy's in perhaps a year or so and I was elated to come across this brand new Chuy's while visiting family in Richmond. I was salivating at the idea of dining here, but apprehensive that the same great flavors would not be available in this east coast outlier. But, thankfully, I was completely satisfied. Same addicting salsa and queso. Same delicious and strong Texas martini. Same outstanding chick a chick a boom boom. I loooooooove green chile. THIS is THE place for good times and great food.

This place is an eye sore in short pump. But I had to try it to give it my official review. My go to Mexican dish wasn't on the menu... fish tacos. Really? Ended up with chicken burrito something. It was ok. The rice was ok. The beans was ok. Not authentic. Not flavorful at all. Typical tourist trap. I hope the novelity wears off soon.

Food was okay. Margarita was awful. Ever watch Bar Rescue? Always use premium spirits. The house tequila was harsh. All in all, I see no need to return.

It wasnt bad, but i was expecting a lot more. The menu was big and there were lots of choices. I ended up getting a relleno and enchilada combo with two different types of sauces. They didnt have a very good selection of beer, just your standard light beers and a few imports, but no craft beers. However the bartender was great and very knowledgeable, really the only reason i'd ever come back. The food came out in around 10 minutes after ordering. The sauces were not very hot even though i got the two hottest. Ive never had a relleno before so i really couldnt compare it to anything, but overall it was pretty good. The enchilada wasnt anything special. The dish also came with beans and rice. The rice was on the dry side. I didn't really like the beans, but i wont factor that into the rating since i dont really like pintos to begin with. I'll probably come back and try the tacos or burritos next time and give another review. I really wanted to fall in love with this place but its not really bringing anything better than the other Mexican restaurants around here.

If, like me, you are a sucker for killer happy hours, free nachos, and cute animals, the bar at Chuy's is for you! Enjoy free nachos from the nacho bar (featuring light and crispy tortilla chips and fresh made salsa) while you partake in the nightly happy hour . The bar is covered in pics of cute dogs, and if you bring in a framed pic of your pup, they will not only put it on the wall, they will give you a free appetizer! While I'm mostly interested in Chuy's happy hours, I have tried their regular menu and it's pretty great too! The green chilie fried chicken is super spicy and crispy, and just great comfort food. Because Chuy's is new to the area, and in Short Pump, its always been packed to the gills whenever I've been there, but I guess that is to be expected. Awesome chain tex-mex and great deals on drinks. Sounds like a winning combo to me!

Oh, Chuy's. Perhaps it's because I'm a Texan who is That Girl about tex-mex. Perhaps it's because I've been to THE Chuy's in Austin, and know what you have the potential to be. Perhaps it's because you're right on Broad, which I find singularly one of the most infuriating and soul-crushing roads lined with suburban capitalist hell. Perhaps I'm getting sidetracked. The point is, Chuy's, you just didn't do it for me. Trust me, I'm just as into a night of watery margs and mid-grade Mexican as the next girl. And I knew of course that a Chuy's in Glen Allen, VA, was not going to be the same as one in Austin, TX...I went in with an open mind and empty stomach. But everything from my drink to my entrée was underwhelming, and I found myself wishing I hadn't spent the money. First of all, I ordered one of the more expensive margaritas on the menu: they brought it to me on the rocks, when I had specifically requested frozen. When asked if I could have the margarita frozen, the waitress looked at me like I'd kicked her dog, muttered something about not hearing my request earlier, and would take it back to the kitchen to "see what she could do". She came five minutes later, still clutching it in the same position, and told me that they could only have this margarita over ice. Why she couldn't have mentioned that to me when originally made that specific order request is beyond me, but I had to settle for my margarita, now perspiring from being in her hand for so long. The food was....okay. Not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but I've still had better tex-mex in the area. I doubt they'll lack for business and it seems to be a great place to bring families, but I won't be back. Now, take me to Plaza Azteca.

Not a fan. The food was average at best. The house salsa was way too salty (maybe it was intentionally done to get you to buy more beer). I liked the resturant, just not a good value proposition.

Went with a group of friends to Chuy's last night and it was okay. The good: we were seated quickly and the "perfect Margarita" was good and the free chips, salsa and queso for happy hour were good...fresh; light chips and the salsa was tasty with the right amount of kick. Once seated we constantly had to flag down our waitress and even get other staff to go find her. I had a combo of a beef taco, cheese enchilada, green chile rice and refried beans. The enchilada was very good. The taco shell was stale and the rice and beans were both terribly dry as if they had been on the stove for way too long. All in all a mediocre experience.

Ay Chihuahua! I love you Elvis. I love you chicken. You died and we got one banging dish @ Chuy's. We thought noshing queso and taco meat on the back of the nacho car would be the highlight of our day 'til we got to the dinner and had the chicken and tres leches cake. My GOD. Tres-freaking-leches-cake. I tres love you too. Who cares if it's a mega-giant, nasdaq traded chain company. I was here for the food and fun and I got both. Have you done the takeout yet guys? We ordered $10 chille relleno to go and the bag was HUGE, filled with fresh fried, warm chips, salsa, and sauces. If you liked the nacho bar beef then you'll like the chille relleno with beef cuz they got the same meat in there. On one lunch occasion @ the bar me and my friend was mistaken as twin sisters, and promptly was gifted with a bowl of queso from the bartender. (oddly enough my friend indeed is a twin. just not with me!) Ah you cool, fun, awesome, yet name-unknown bartender person, we thank you muchily. Ah but this review def was not affected by that hot & gooey free queso bowl by any means. Try eating here and don't get scared by the lines. Nosh on some free chips and salsa, hang out @ the bar and count some doggies on the wall. I know I gotta' go back to hang up my dogs' photo up there.

I went yesterday for a late lunch with my son. Very friendly staff that are well trained. To start Chuys has the best salsa and chips in the Richmond area. Both of our lunches were really good and we will be going again very soon! I had a "Chuychanga" that was just crispy enough and has very good quality chicken and other well blended flavored. I almost offered my son a taste. But it was too good!! Maybe next time.

The burritos and frozen sangria are excellent! Had the taco salad last night...some of the lettuce was rather big (not a big fan of having to use a knife in a taco shell) and there was some grit to it (not washed well?). Definitely will get the burritos again and the sangria is refreshing :)

This is a fun family-friendly place. I like the vegetable enchiladas and I especially like that I can choose my sauce. The food isn't too heavy and has a lot of flavor. They have free nachos during happy hour which is a major major plus for me. I love nachos.

After just having some great Mexican in the Fan this place did not even compare. I went for a work lunch so it's not like I was expecting an amazing experience but this place is pretty much just a straight up mexican chain with nothing too special. There are many better options out there and everything was just ok. Doubt I'll be back.

Meh. The food is authentic American Mexican, if that's even a thing. The interior was cheap and chincy, the wait staff was dressed casually, and was warm It was just meh. There was nothing awful about the place, but it just want for me and that's not their fault. So four stars.

We lived at Chuy's while we lived in Richmond. The food is amazing, the nacho bar at happy hour is delicious and free and could possibly be enough food for your kids as a meal and the margaritas are awesome!!!! We miss you Chuy's and just hoping the location here in Atlanta meets the Short Pump standard we've come to expect. Arguably the best Mexican food we've had and there are few that compare.

  • Courtney R.

Is this authentic Mexican food? Nah. Is it totally cheesy, gooey, fried deliciousness? Heck yeah it is! Not very spicy but still flavorful. Margaritas are nothing special but definitely tasty. Green chili is on the menu which is an automatic plus for me. Best part is the Atmosphere. REALLY fun & if you bring in a framed picture of your pooch you get a free appetizer. A place that loves dogs?! Sign me up!

Food here was pretty good. Tex-mex. Nothing more. I had some elvis Presley enchilada meal, it was nothing spectacular, but all in all pretty good. The chips and salsa, however, we're delicious! Service was meh, our waitress always seemed like she was in a hurry and didn't want much to do with actually helping us. It was an "ok" experience.

I went to Chuy's for lunch with my sister. The restaurant was busy around prime lunch hours. A server brings chips and salsa to your table. The chips are thin and fried to a nice crisp. I thought Chuy's salsa was good but not great. I ordered an Elvis Presley Memorial Combo (Beef Tex-Mex enchilada, cheese Ranchero enchilada, chicken Tomatillo enchilada, a seasoned ground sirloin with homemade tostada chips dipped in chile con queso). Most meals come with beans and rice as well. The enchiladas are good. I'm not a big fan of beans but Chuy's refried beans are tasty. My chile con queso was good as well. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Parking can be a hassle but it's a deck across from the restaurant. I give Chuy's a 3.5 rating.

Chuy's was my first experience of proper Tex Mex. Don't be fooled by the "Mexican" on the sign - it's truly Tex Mex. There's enough cheese to make you think you're in Wisconsin. After two visits, I still can't go past the strawberry margarita. Just the right amount of sweet, sour, and frozen goodness. My first visit I had the Tex Mex enchiladas. I wasn't totally happy, as the cheese was overly chewy (pun only slightly intended). The second time around I ordered the Wednesday special, which was much better. I can't remember the name, but it was enchiladas with green chilies and avocado. Everyone at our table ordered it, and no one was disappointed. Make sure you order some queso as well. If you're in a particularly Tex Mex-y mood, grab some flour tortillas to dip in it as well. Divine. It's by no means fine dining. None of the crockery matches, the tables are formica, and the cutlery comes in a paper cover providing you with the pre-meal prayer for three religions. The restaurant is filled with more Elvis memorabilia than should exist outside Lilo's bedroom. But there's not much in the way of night life in Short Pump, so beggars can't be choosers. At the end of the day, they do a mean margarita, and they keep them coming, so I see no reason I won't be going back next time I'm in town.

I had the Wednesday special which is chicken enchiladas with a spicy avocado cream. Full of white meat chicken, sauce very flavorful and spicy. Beans and rice were good also.

Holy guacamole!! Decided to try the Chuy's for some Mexican Food this evening as I was shopping in Short Pump anyway. I was there so early for dinner service, valet parking wasn't even set up! I immediately noticed the authentic atmosphere of a chain restaurant but I was digging the whole thing. I was greeted warmly by staff and given my choice of a booth or table. Within a minute I had ice tea and a basket of chips with some serious homemade fresh salsa on my table. The menu was packed with things I'd like to try but on this visit I went for the fajitas! They were excellent and tasty. I told my server Alyson I wanted to make this a weekly stop for Fajita Night! She was happy to hear that and her service could not have been any better. Great service and great food gets my 5 stars! I'm telling you to check this place out, you'll be happy!

We've been to Chuy's before, and I was really looking forward to our visit. Everything about this experience was mediocre. Our server was in a rush, was inattentive, and didn't get my order right. After we received our food, he was also by our table three times checking on other tables before he checked back with us. He also didn't notice that the order was wrong. G ordered the Macho burrito and it was delicious. I had the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, my go to. Usually it's delicious. This time it was very, VERY mediocre. They're opening another location in Richmond soon... hopefully it's better than this one.

This place is HAPPY! It's not very often that a meal can change your day!! Friendly staff! Bright and clean decor! Delicious food! Plus they brought a sampling of all their sauces to us as first timers! That was fun. Our waitress "Izzy" is one of the greatest of all time.

We've been here many, many times since it first opened. The first couple times, it was amazing: the service was great, food was good, and there were always lots of people and great atmosphere. However, I think they're starting to slip.... We went to Chuy's Saturday night, which you'd think in Short Pump would be really busy, but it wasn't. We were seated right away, but a bunch of the servers were standing around chit-chatting in the front of the restaurant and the gentleman trying to seat us had to tell them "EXCUSE ME" about 3 times before they finally moved. It should have been a sign that all the waitstaff had nothing better to do than stand arond and chat! First off, they should warn you that the queso is $7. I'm sorry, but when the server asked if we wanted queso, I was expecting it to be around $3 or $4... But nope, it's SEVEN. ($7 bucks for some cheese in a bowl?! Really??) My boyfriend always gets the steak burrito -- and normally he loves it. This time he said there were practically no jalapenos on it and the steak was a little over cooked. I always get the #6 -- which is an Enchilada, Taco, & Chalupa. Again, hardly any jalapenos! Normally there's a few, which I love, but nope. There was literally 3 jalapenos on my plate. Ugh. Otherwise the food was ok, honestly it wasn't that hot. Makes me think our server didn't deliver it until much after it was ready. I ended up taking half of it home, because it just wasnt that appealing. Our server was nice, but definitely not attentive. We're not hard to please --- I just hate sitting at the table with empty drink cups. We also didn't have silverware for the first 20 minutes of us sitting at the table, finally I asked for some. And then we didn't have napkins, again I had to ask. I'm normally not so critical but I feel like part of a server's job is to anticipate and notice their patron's needs! It took forever to get her back to our table (despite the mostly empty dining room) and honestly I was really disappointed in her service overall. I'll give it another chance, because we've always loved this place, and maybe it was an off night because it's the holiday season. :(

Good food, great atmosphere and WOW fast service. Coming from an area where they do have GREAT and DELISH Tex-Mex food and authentic Spanish food. I give this place 4 stars. 4 because it's finally happened, Richmond Virginia now has a decent Tex-Mex restaurant besides the great Casa del Barco in downtown RIC. Congrats Chuy's you amazed me.... Now all Virginia needs is a decent, great Cuban restaurant.

This is one of our children's favorite places to eat. We try to go during Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 4-7pm because they have the free chips and sauces in the bar area. Our last visit we had and EXCELLENT server Michael A. He was so attentive and helpful. He was great with our children engaging them and even commenting on their coloring and drawings. They accidentally brought out the wrong kid's meal for our son and our server picked up on it immediately and corrected it even though we told him it was ok. We appreciated his honestly in which salad dressings to get and he ended up giving us the best suggestions with the Creamy Jalapeño. SOOOOO good. Fun, laid back environment where we can be comfortable and relaxed.

I guess Chuy's is a southern chain restaurant? I don't think we have it in the North. Anyways the food was really good. I ate the small version of the chicken burrito which was still humungous! The queso dips and pico de gallo was tasty.

As a former regular at the original Chuy's in Austin, TX I was ecstatic to find a location in Virginia. Oh how I have missed the creamy jalapeño ranch and the chicka chicka boom boom sauce. I ordered all of my favorites and they were exactly as I remember. No quality lost. If you're looking for great Tex Mex and a fun atmosphere, THIS is the place. They even carry Shiner!

My Wife, Sister in Law and her Husband, went here for Valentine's Day. (Feb 14 2015) It was also my sister in law and her husbands 2nd wedding anniversary. I got the Steak Burrito, A handmade, 12" flour tortilla stuffed with sliced grilled steak & cheese, topped with spicy Hatch Green Chile sauce. Served with green chile rice & charro beans. You can switch the sauce for any of the other sauce's they have. It was awesome, Steak was like cotton candy, (a good thing) My wife & her sister are Vegetarians, so they got The Veggie, Spinach, onions, zucchini, yellow squash, red bell peppers, serranos, roasted green chiles, corn & cheese in homemade blue corn tortillas with Ranchero sauce. All were very satisfied with the Service, Atmosphere & Food. We will be going back. Taking our daughter next time, she loves Mexican food...\m/... chuys.com

They make the tacos perfectly, most of the time. In the few times they mess up, it's as simple as putting lettuce on a meta-and-cheese only taco. They cater, and have a decent sized kids menu. The place is wonderfully decorated and has a gigantic menu. Whether or not you enjoy Mexican food, check this place out if you have the time.

First time here, and yeah, I'm a fan indeed. This is about as unpretentious, fun Tex Mex as you can find! We had a table of six and were seated within 15 minutes on a Saturday evening. Unheard of in the Short Pump area. The food is really, really good. Is it authentic Mexican? Nope. But it doesn't claim to be. It's fun, rambunctious, let down your hair, have a drink & chow down food, and that's exactly what we did.

Good Tex-Mex is not always easy to find in this neck of the woods. So DH was happy to hear Chuy's was locating in Richmond. We had heard crowds can be large at peak hours, so DH and I decided to do an early dinner on the weekend. We were promptly greeted, seated and served. The waitstaff was helpful, friendly and provided top notch service. What I liked best is that when you say "thank you", they respond with "You're welcome" instead of "no problem" (a pet peeve). For the food... While I enjoyed my meal (best chips ever, super light and crispy), it was just did not really live up to the hype. I am chuckling at some of the other reviewers' comments about the decor. It does create a bit of sensory overload, especially the "pimped out nacho car".

Bottom tier mexican food for Richmond. Emphasis on appearance over food and experience. Have been twice, both times slow/poor service. Much better food/prices at plaza az teca or casa grande. Drinks are a rip off. The cooks who bring food out are the only personable people in the restaurant. Rest of staff treats you like cattle. Seems to be getting good business from the west broad village crowd (which I generally try to avoid)

As a transplant of Austin, Texas, I was so happy to discover that a Chuy's had opened on this side of the country. I have been craving some decent Tex Mex and that is not something easily found in these parts. I used to go here all the time and dream about their Deluxe Tomatillo sauce. My parents bribed me into staying the night at their house with a trip south to Chuy's. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but if you are looking a for some decent Tex Mex with an Austin vibe then this is the spot to go. An order of Deluxe Chicken enchiladas and a strawberry margarita made my day.

There tortillas are awesome! Also, the waitress this time guided us to a "scret menu" this trip. We have Suzy Goo! it is rice with grilled chicken then nacho cheese on top! we asked for extra tortillas! YUMMY

We have been eating here a few times a month for the past year. Food always tastes fresh. Service is always great and friendly. Also kid friendly place for toddlers and infants. Would love to see the menu expand.

My wife and I ate here just after it first opened so the newness was still hanging thick like a bad case of chiggers on fresh blood. I totally dug the ambiance as it made me and my wife think that we were down at the beach. The only down side is that was so loud from the people. I didn't mind the loud music, it was kicking ass in our opinion. We were mainly there to check it out, see what the nacho bar all about and eat dinner. We got there right around near the end of happy hour so we were still able to get a decent seat and served by a very helpful waitress (in Short Pump, this is a miracle unless you REALLY get there early). The menu was a who's-who of "I CAN'T CHOOSE!!! IT ALL LOOKS GOOD!" We all got our nachos from the nacho bar (they need a few more choices in my opinion, but I'm not THAT picky), which was the rear end of a classic car. The food was really good, huge potions, presented well and was a gut buster! Dunno if this was authentic Tex-Mex, but either way, I was satisfied. Try the mango margarita! Also, if you want a real gut buster of a dish, the Comida Deluxe will do it and is SOOOOOO worth it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
